Renfrew Country Adult Games Association 55+ - District 5
District 5 Mission
•To Provide older adults (55+) in Ontario with an opportunity to:
•Increase their social interaction with others,
•Increase their physical & mental well-being,
•Maintain & enhance their psychological and physiological well-being through participation in recreational activities and sports.
Objective
Promote active living among older adults in Ontario
History of District 5
•District 5 started in 1986 with the first games hosted by Deep River.
•All of the events were scheduled on the same day.
•From 1995 to 2000 the games were quite popular with 250 -300 people participating and attending the closing banquet
•In 2008 numbers were declining so started holding events over two days to allow members to take part in more than one event
•In 2011 the OSGA introduced Regional Games.
•The first games were held in Perth
•Renfrew County received the plaque for highest participation and Medal winners
•Renfrew County has received the plaque every Regional Games except for 2015 when we missed out by just a few points.
•On even numbered years we send participants to the Provincial Games. We have represented Renfrew County well over the years bringing home many medals.
•We have sent participants to the Canada Games in Cape Britton in 2012. Of the 11 participants from Renfrew County all came home with a medal.
•In the Canada Games in 2018 Renfrew County received gold Medals in Ladies Darts, Men's Calloway Golf, and a silver in Ladies Low Net Golf.
District Games

•Summer, Winter or Combined
•Provide an opportunity for adults 55+ to be active and involved within their community
•Acts as qualification process for Ontario 55+ Games as well as Regional 55+ Games
Regional Games
1-day event that is held in odd numbered years (i.e.. 2017, 2019) and organized by a Regional Games committee
Ontario 55+ Games
•Ontario 55+ Summer Games is held biennially in even numbered years (i.e.. 2018, 2020, 2022)
•Ontario 55+ Winter Games is held biennially in odd numbered years (2019, 2021, 2022)

•Each district has a registration fee for its events to assist with being financially self sufficient
•Registration Fee -Example:
•OSGA Membership Fee$10.00
•Sample District Fee$ 7.00

•Registration Fee + each extra event (i.e.. $3)
•Venue fee for each event (i.e.. Golf, Bowling)
•Other Revenue Sources
•Fundraising, sponsorship, donations, grants, etc.
